چکیده

New fermions, strongly coupled to the Standard Model Higgs boson, provide a well motivated extension of the Standard Model (SM). In this work we show that, once new physics at heavier scales is added to stabilize the Higgs potential, such an extension of the SM can strengthen the first order electroweak phase transition and make the electroweak baryogenesis mechanism feasible. We propose a SM extension with TeV Higgsinos, Winos and Binos that satisfy the following properties: a) The electroweak phase transition is strong enough to avoid sphaleron erasure in the broken phase for values of the Higgs mass mH < ∼ 300 GeV; b) It provides large CP-violating currents that lead to the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe for natural values of the CP-violating phase; c) It also provides a natural Dark Matter candidate that can reproduce the observed dark matter density; d) It is consistent with electroweak precision measurements; e) It may arise from a softly broken supersymmetric theory with an extra (asymptotically free) gauge sector; f) It may be tested by electron electric dipole moment experiments in the near future.

Effective Lagrangian approach to electroweak baryogenesis: Higgs boson mass limit and electric dipole moments of fermions.

A natural solution to the hierarchy problem of the standard model is to assume new physics to appear at the TeV scale. We parametrize the effects of this new physics in terms of effective lagrangian and examine its impacts on electroweak baryogenesis. We point out that with such an effective lagrangian successful electroweak baryogenesis implies: i) Higgs boson lies within the reach of LEP II; ...

Collider searches and cosmology in the MSSM with heavy scalars

In a variety of supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model, the scalar partners of the quarks and leptons are predicted to be very heavy and beyond the reach of next-generation colliders. For instance, the realization of electroweak baryogenesis in supersymmetry requires new sources of CP-violation, which can only be naturally accommodated with electric dipole moment constraints if the fir...

Kinetic approach to electroweak baryogenesis

After a short review of baryogenesis mechanisms, we focus on the charge transport mechanism at the electroweak scale, effective at strong electroweak phase transitions. Starting from the one-loop Schwinger-Dyson equations for fermions coupled to bosons, we present a derivation of the relevant kinetic equations in the on-shell and gradient approximations, relevant for the thick wall baryogenesis...

Baryogenesis with Scalar Bilinears

We show that if a baryon asymmetry of the universe is generated through the outof-equilibrium decays of heavy scalar bilinears coupling to two fermions of the minimal standard model, it is necessarily an asymmetry conserving (B−L) which cannot survive past the electroweak phase transition because of sphalerons. We then show that a surviving (B − L) asymmetry may be generated if the heavy scalar...

After a short review of electroweak scale baryogenesis, we consider the dynamics of chiral fermions coupled to a complex scalar field through the standard Yukawa interaction term at a strongly first order electroweak phase transition. By performing a systematic gradient expansion we can use this simple model to study electroweak scale baryogenesis. We show that the dominant sources for electrow...
